the taasa difference
We are deeply committed to empowering the communities around us, especially the nearby Ololosokwan Maasai Boma village, home to 70–75% of our team. We’re honored to consider their entire community, over 6,000 strong a part of the TAASA family. Supporting women is a particular focus, as they are often underrepresented in many sectors across Tanzania. Our leadership includes an exceptional female lodge manager, and we are proud to champion and uplift our female guides. Beyond employment, we invest in local artisans, sourcing art, furniture, and handcrafted goods from the community, including jewelry made by widowed women and individuals living with physical challenges.
We understand the privilege of sharing Tanzania's stunning landscapes and wildlife with our guests. This privilege carries a responsibility to protect these environments and promote sustainable tourism. Our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship drives us to continually seek ways to minimize our ecological footprint and preserve the natural beauty surrounding us. Our FGASA qualified guides emphasize the importance of environmental conservation and are dedicated to protecting Tanzania's diverse ecosystems.
We are passionate about igniting a spirit of exploration and discovery. At TAASA, we offer guests opportunities to experience not just the breathtaking land and wildlife of Tanzania, but also to engage with local communities and immerse themselves in the rich culture. We encourage travelers to make meaningful contributions to neighboring communities, fostering a sense of global citizenship.
TAASA is committed to positively impacting the local community by empowering Ololosokwan and the surrounding region.
We strategically partner with organizations that align with our mission to support the local communities and its members. Whether hosting groups at our lodge, participating in community builds, implementing sustainable water practices throughout our property, procuring local products whose proceeds go back to the community and working with NGOs on opportunities to empower students, women and Tanzanians for many generations to come.
Since 2020, TAASA in partnership with Explore With Purpose, an NGO which aims to bridge the gap between luxury travel and community empowerment. Alongside our travel partners and guests, we have raised over $300,000 to reinvest in nearby communities such as Ololosokwan and Mairowa. Our contributions have supported vital projects, including the construction of new dormitories and classrooms, the provision of clean water access, school supplies, medical resources, and teachers' housing facilities.
Our top priority remains listening to the needs of village and school leaders to provide them with the resources necessary for their communities to thrive. Simultaneously, we are steadfast in our commitment to protecting the lands and wildlife that make Tanzania so extraordinary.
