Discover the magic of a Tanzania family safari at TAASA. From tracking wildlife in the Serengeti and learning Maasai traditions to baking sessions and visits to local villages, we provide a safe, engaging, and luxury environment for “little explorers” and their parents. With interconnecting tents and expert child-minding, TAASA ensures every generation finds its own rhythm in the heart of the bush.

Africa has a way of surprising people in the best way. Parents who arrive a little nervous, questioning whether they’ve made the right decision bringing their children, often leave wondering why they didn’t do it sooner.
TAASA is family-owned, and we love welcoming guests into our extended family. We understand that a great family holiday is about creating lifelong memories and an experience that feels meaningful for everyone – whether you’re seven or seventy. At TAASA, parents can relax and enjoy some quiet time, children are genuinely captivated and cared for by our team, and Grandma and Grandpa can tap into their sense of adventure. The days unfold with a sense of ease and wonder for the whole family.
A morning at TAASA begins before sunrise, heading out onto the Serengeti in our open-sided 4×4 as the savannah stirs to life. This is where children’s curiosity takes over. They ask questions and become eagle-eyed wildlife spotters. Our guides are passionate about sharing their knowledge with young travelers; explaining why a lion rests for most of the day, or teaching little ones how to read animal tracks in the dust. For older children, there is the added thrill of learning to shoot a bow and arrow, throw a spear the Maasai way, or make fire from scratch with a tracker.
Back at the lodge, children who have spotted animals on their drive can sit down to draw them, guided through arts and crafts sessions that bring the safari to life in a different way. And then there is the kitchen. Our team welcomes young visitors to join them for baking sessions. Children are immensely proud to bring something to the table that they made themselves. For those with extra energy, games of football and volleyball remain a favorite amongst kids and adults alike.
As evening settles in, the bush takes on a completely different character.
At TAASA Lodge, nighttime game drives, wrapped in warm shuka blankets with hot water bottles in hand, offer something daytime simply cannot. Hyenas moving through the dark, the glimmer of predator eyes caught in the spotlight, and a sky full of southern hemisphere stars. For both children and adults, it is unforgettable.
A boma dinner under an open sky, gathered around a fire with the sounds of the bush all around you, is the kind of ending to a day that feels like something out of a story.

Of everything we offer at TAASA Lodge, our visits to the nearby Maasai village of Ololoskwan hold a particular place in our hearts and in the memories of the families who have made the trip. Families and children from the village come out to meet our guests and within minutes, they are playing together as though they have always known each other. Your children leave with an understanding of a different way of life that no classroom can teach. It is a special encounter that shapes the way young people see the world, and one of the most genuinely moving experiences we are privileged to offer.
Our team loves taking care of your children, in the same way they would take care of their own. This peace of mind gives parents the freedom to enjoy TAASA at their own pace; a private game drive, a long lunch, or a rejuvenating massage on their private deck. Knowing your children are well looked after, genuinely engaged and cared for, changes the quality of your own experience entirely.
The interconnecting tents at TAASA Lodge and TAASA Migration Camp are designed so that families have the best of both worlds too. Children have their own space to settle into at the end of a day, connected to their parents’ tents by a covered walkway.
